CLASS SYLLABUS
COURSE DESCRIPTION
In my class, your child will receive integrated reading and English language arts skills. They will be introduced to and have the opportunity to practice skills that will build on and improve their ability to communicate effectively, as well as read fluently, while enhancing their ability to comprehend various types of literature.
Upon completion of 8th grade, through practicing reading comprehension strategies (i.e. decoding, summarizing, making inferences, drawing conclusions...), they should have a better understanding of how to comprehend what they read. They should also be able to interpret poetry writing and perform renditions of theater and drama scripts. And, as a part of the English Language Arts curriculum, your child should be able to construct and critique various writing styles and types (i.e. persuasive, expository, narrative, informative, etc.).
